One of my little guys wasn't at school in the afternoon yesterday because he was going herring fishing with his Dad. I found out this morning that they were doing traditional herring fishing which means they take a whole hemlock tree and upend it into the water. The herring will then come along and lay their eggs in the branches. When the family decides it is time to harvest the eggs, the family will pull the tree out and the tree branches will be thick with herring eggs.
