This morning we lined up outside the main entrance of the school to welcome the children back to their 2013-2014 school year. It was fun cheering the kids on as they arrived and I felt their enthusiasm rub off on me as I smiled at them. The local RCMP had arrived in the early hours of the morning to prepare a HUGE pancake breakfast for the students and their parents, it was devoured! The local big chiefs came to start the school day with a welcome dance and to pass on a few words of wisdom.
Then we had a celebrity speak, none other than Mr. Lorne Cardinal of Corner Gas! He spoke eloquently on the power of education and where it can take you. It was a pleasure seeing him and hearing him speak. Our poor principal was stuck in her wheelchair but she acted as MC and moved everything along.
We were supposed to have an hour with our students in our classrooms but by the time we got back to class we only had 15 minutes. I am pleased with my group of kids and look forward to what will no doubt be a fabulous year!
