There are two restaurants in the general area here, the first being a small diner named Alexa's and the second being the pub restaurant at Shearwater. The Shearwater restaurant has been a refuge of sorts for a number of the teachers on weekends or Friday nights. Which is why it has been so hard for me to give it up. Why give it up you ask? Well, the last four times I have eaten there I have had varying forms of food poisoning.
Last night I was at an earth hour celebration with someone who works in Shearwater. The teachers were jokingly mentioning that you were fine eating at the restaurant as long as you didn't order chicken...or the special...or meat. Someone laughingly mentioned that when it got busy they would refuse to make time consuming drinks like cosmos.* Another person mentioned that they had ordered the grilled chicken salad that was supposed to come with feta, pecans, cranberries, carrots, chicken, and lettuce but when it arrived it only had chicken and lettuce. Finally the shearwater worker spoke up and told us all that the kitchen was filthy and that a recent cook had been fired because he had insisted that the kitchen needed to be cleaner.
That was the final straw...no more shearwater dinners for me.
*cosmos are made with cranberry juice, vodka, triple sec, and lime juice...not rocket science.
